PRP for Hair Growth
- blood is drawn + spun to separate the platelets from the other cells
- platelets are put back into the liquid part of the blood (the plasma, or PRP)
- PRP is injected into the scalp with a small needle
- growth factors (see below) help to create or stimulate new hair follicles
Platelets have hundreds of specialized proteins called growth factors. These aid healing and are often used to treat wounds, tendon tears, and arthritis pain.
Some types of hair loss result from damage to hair follicles; reversing this process using PRP can result in repaired & thicker hair.
